Diet in #acne was initially considered controversial, however emerging studies suggest the following:
High glycemic index (GI) diets appear to make acne worse. GI is food’s potential to increase blood sugar and insulin. Swipe to see list with GI of some common foods
Dairy (particularly skim milk but also whole milk and low fat milk) might make acne worse
Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids (e.g. salmon) or taking fish oil supplements might help with acne (although data is limited)
Yogurt with “live cultures” or a daily probiotic supplement containing Lactobacilli and/or Bifidobacterium might help with acne (although data is limited)
Important note - When consuming dairy free alternative such as almond milk, make sure to have adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D
At the end, it’s all about eating a well- balanced diet. You don’t have to cut out cake or pizza completely, just maybe not every night.
